The Hazelwood School District Board of Education has named Grayling Tobias as superintendent and Ingrid Clark-Jackson as associate superintendent, effective immediately.  On Aug.  31, the school doard determined that new leadership was needed, naming Tobias as interim superintendent and Clark-Jackson as interim associate superintendent. Tobias replaced Steven Price as interim prior to Price starting the third year of his contract.

Cheryl Latham, president of the HSD Board of Education, said the board is confident that the best leadership is in place to help the District continue to move forward.

“Since we made a change in leadership on August 31, the district has accomplished a significant amount in a short period of time under the leadership of Dr. Tobias and Dr. Clark-Jackson,” Latham said. “We are confident that we have the appropriate leadership in place right now to improve academic achievement and support those who are closest to our students.”

Tobias has more than 25 years of experience in education and previously served as an assistant superintendent for learning for HSD.  He has worked for HSD since 2002, previously serving as director of secondary education and assistant superintendent for accountability. “It is an honor and privilege to serve our students and this community as superintendent,” Tobias said. “We want to let our Board of Education, community, and our staff to know that we are not going to let our students down. We want to reassure everyone we will continue to move forward. We have trust and confidence in the people who work closest to our students, and I know that our students will succeed at high levels.”
