Spanish Lake Garden Tour is June 11

More than 200 years ago, Lewis & Clark spent the first and last nights of their epic journey in the part of St. Louis now known as Spanish Lake. Today, this historic North County community is still home to frontier-era landmarks and scenic river banks and on Saturday, June 11, it will open its doors for a public tour of 11 local gardens from 10 a.m. -4p.m.

Sponsored by the Spanish Lake Community Association (SLCA), the tour covers eight residential gardens and three community gardens, including one at the circa 1870 Twillman House, which is being renovated as a Community Center for the residents of Spaniish Lake.

A wide variety of gardens will be featured, from cottage and butterfly to organic vegetable and perennial beds – with all proceeds benefiting the ongoing Twillman House renovation. An eclectic mix of vintage architecture will also be showcased.

Tickets are $10/person in advance and are available until June 9th at Cigno Dental Care, 12000 Bellefontaine Road and Miller’s Auto Repair, 12300 Bellefontaine Road. Or you can send your check, payable to the Spanish Lake Community Association, to SLCA, P.O. Box 372082, St. Louis, MO 63138.

On the day of the tour, tickets will be $15 and available at the Twillman House, 11840 Bellefontaine Road. Ticket holders will also be able to pick up their tour maps and programs at this location.
