Lutheran High School North has announced Gerald Jones has been named Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

Jones most recently coached at Northwest Academy of Law High School, where he won the Class 3 Boys State Championship Title in 2017 and took fourth in the state championship this year.

He encourages success in his players by constantly challenging them athletically and academically, the school stated in a press release.  He instills discipline in his players and prides himself in providing direction for his student-athletes during and after high school.

Jones has a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Eastern Illinois University, where he played basketball and graduated as the team’s 7th all-time leading scorer. Prior to coaching at Northwest, Jones served as the Boys Head Coach at McCluer South Berkeley High School.

He won three state titles in the 1980s as a player at Vashon High School. He is the only athlete to win a Missouri State Championship as both a player and a coach in the St. Louis Public High School League (PHL). He was the PHL Coach of the Year in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
