High School Track And Field teams and athletes that are in Classes Four and Three have over a week to compete in the District championships.
Athletes competing individually or on relay teams must meet standards of time, height or distance set by the Missouri State High School Activities Association in order to compete in districts. Athletes can only compete in four events, individual and/or relays. Districts are May 14 at 11 a.m.
McCluer High School will host Class Four, District Three. Competing at McCluer are Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, Incarnate Word Academy, McCluer North, Normandy, Pattonville, Ritenour, Riverview Gardens, Roosevelt and St. Louis University High.
Chaminade, CBC, DeSmet, Nerinx Hall, St. Joseph’s Academy and Ursuline Academy will be at Eureka for District Two along with Kirkwood, Ladue-Horton Watkins, Lafayette, Marquette (Rockwood School District), Parkway South, Parkway West and Webster Groves. Cor Jesu Academy and Vianney will be at Oakville for Class Four, District One along with Cape Girardeau Central, Cedar Hill-Northwest, Fox, Jackson, Lindbergh, Mehlville, Poplar Bluff, Rockwood Summit and Seckman.
In Class Three Lutheran North, North Technical, Trinity Catholic, Jennings and McCluer South-Berkeley will be at Mary Institute Country Day School for District Three along with Clayton, John Burroughs, John F, Kennedy, Northwest Academy of Transportation and Law (St. Louis), Orchard Farm, Priory, St. Charles, University City, Villa Duchesne, Visitation Academy and Westminster Christian Academy. Also in Class Three Rosati-Kain will be in District Two at Affton along with Beaumont, Bishop DuBourg, Cardinal Ritter, Gateway Tech, Imagine College Prep Charter, Lutheran South, Miller Career Academy, Notre Dame (St. Louis), Soldan-International Studies, St. Elizabeth Academy, St. Mary’s, Sumner, Vashon and Windsor (Imperial).
The top four finishers in each of the 18 district events, 14 individual and four relay, will advance to the sectional meet, May 21, approximately 11 a.m. In Class Four qualifiers from District Three will be in Sectional Two which is scheduled to be at Troy-Buchanan according to the MSHSAA while qualifiers from Districts One and Two will be in Sectional One at Lafayette. In Class Three qualifiers from District Three will be in Sectional Two at Mexico, Mo., while qualifiers from District Two will be in Sectional One at Lutheran South.
The top four finishers from each sectional event will advance to the MSHSAA State Championships, May 27-28 at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium, Jefferson City. Field events start at 11 a.m. each day while track events start at 12 noon each day.
Hazelwood Central (Class Four) and University City (Class Three) are defending Boys State Champions while McCluer South-Berkeley is defending Girls Class Three State Champion.
NORTH COUNTY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL will compete May 6-7 in the Missouri Christian State Athletic Association championships in Joplin. NCCS Girls are the defending Christian State Champions.
TRACK AND FIELD NOTES — The Suburban North Conference Meet is at McCluer North and is scheduled to take place May 4-5, 3 p.m. each day. The all-boys Metro Catholic Conference Meet will take place May 5, 4 p.m. at the St. Louis University High Soccer Stadium. The Archdiocesan Athletic Association Meet took place May 4 at St. Dominic High, O’Fallon, Mo. The Suburban East Conference Meet is held May 5, 4 p.m., at McCluer South-Berkeley for Boys and at Jennings for Girls
McCluer North Boys won the Jim Schmuck Patriot Classic April 29 at Parkway West while at the Marion Freeman Invitational, an annual Boys Meet at Clayton April 30, Hazelwood Central won the Orange Division while McCluer South-Berkeley won the Blue Division.
