HW’s Antoine White Goes Undefeated (29-0), Wins Class Four State Wrestling At 119 lbs.

After two years of finishing fifth in the Missouri State High School Class Four Wrestling Championships, Hazelwood West senior Antoine White ended his prep career by winning the state championship at 119 pounds, Feb. 19 at Mizzou Arena, Columbia, Mo.

White became the 10th West individual to win state wrestling. He also went undefeated, going 29-0, and is the first Wildcat to go undefeated since Dan Callahan won Class 4A State in 1991. White pinned Blake Dixon, St. Joseph Central, in 2:30, defeated Danny Farrell, Seckman (Fox School District), 4-1, defeated Colton Orlando, Wentzville-Timberland, 7-4, and won the title match 5-2 over Ben Henson, Francis Howell Central, in a rematch of the District Two championship match.

White took fifth place at 103 in 2009 and at 112 in 2010.

McCLUER NORTH SENIOR PATRICK WHITENER (37-10) took second place in Class Four at 145 after finishing fourth in District Two. Whitener defeated Nicholas Dondzila, Vianney, 9-5, Joshua Aguliar, Lee’s Summit, 3-2, and Drew Daniels, Kansas City-Rockhurst, 4-2, before losing the title match to Gabriel Asano, Waynesville, 3-2. Whitener’s teammate, junior Darrell Pampkin (41-13), took sixth place at 130.

McCLUER SOUTH-BERKELEY SENIOR ALMONDO CONNER (39-3) took second place in Class Two at 145. A District Two Champion, Conner pinned Owensville’s Ethan Fernau in 3:27, defeated Odessa’s Joshua Thompson. 4-3, and Lee White, Reeds Springs, 7-2, before losing the title match to Monett’s Ethan Davis, 8-0. Conner’s teammate, senior Herschel Prater (38-10) took fifth place at 285.

HAZELWOOD CENTRAL had two Class Four; District Two champions take home state medals. Senior DuShawn Fraiser (152) entered the state championships with a 35-0 record but came home 38-2 and finished in fifth place for the second consecutive year. Senior Tyrone Williams (24-7) took third place at 160.

HAZELWOOD EAST had the only state medallist in Class Three. Senior Nicholas Bolden (33-5), a District Two Champion at 285, took third place in state.

RITENOUR had the only other state medallist among Suburban North Conference teams. Junior Eric Bowman (38-5) took fourth place in Class Four at 140 after taking second in District Two.
