Mayor McCourt to Seek Reelection in Black Jack

Mayor Norman McCourt

Mayor Norman McCourt has  announced his candidacy for reelection to a fourth term as Mayor of the City of Black Jack stating that he is determined to continue the progress made over the last four years.

His statement on this announcemen: “Much has changed since our last city election four years ago. The country’s economic climate has dramatically affected every aspect of our community.  I believe that my stewardship of the City of Black Jack resources merits another term at the helm of your city government.

McCourt said he was proud

of the low crime rate in

Black Jack.  “I have worked

with the Citizens of our

Community, the City Council and the St Louis County Police Department to insure that we have safe neighborhoods in which to live and raise our families.

“Second, I have worked to insure that we have an effective program to maintain and enhance your property values through reasonable zoning and a comprehensive Code Enforcement program.

“Third, I am proud of the fiscally conservative attitude shown by both the my administration and the City Council.    McCourt said he manages the city finances in the same manner as he would a  personal business. His priorities:

• Spend less than our income; • Save for big expenses rather than incur long term debt; consider the effect on our residents; and • Use the competitive bid process.

“Fourth, I put special emphasis on providing quality services for those that we serve. The care and attention that is provided to the residents by the City Staff is one of the reasons we have weathered the economic storms better than most communities of our size.

“While our countries economy appears to be slowly growing, I realize there are still many challenges ahead for the City of Black Jack. I promise to meet them as I have in the past: with an open discussion of ideas, a respect for the worth of every resident and the expectation that we can continue working together to make our City even better.  It has been a great privilege and honor to serve you as Mayor and I am ready to pursue a fourth term to continue the progress we have made in creating a City that we are proud to call home.
