The Streak May Be Over, But Rams Face Some Games in Nov. & Dec.

BY RANDY GARDNER

The streak is over,  I can’t  believe that the Rams went 17 games without a win. That is a whole season of losses. Stop and put that into perspective. Think if the Cards lost all 162 games or the Blues lost everyone of their games. Thanks goodness it is over though.

Even though the Rams won, how much stock can you put into a 17-10 win over the lack-luster Lions, a team that is just as bad as the Rams. Luckily, the team has the week off this week. After that, they have the Cardinals with Kurt Warner, who will be fired up to come into the Dome and then it only gets rougher from there.

I thought at the beginning of the season that the Rams would win at least six, I was completely wrong. I would say now that they will win three at the most. The only  positive thing is that we can only go up from here and get better for next year.

I know by the time this column hits, the World Series could be over but it has been fun so far.. Right now (Tuesday)  it is 3-2 for the Yankees but the Phillies are making a run. Chase Utley is a one man wrecking machine. It is so cool to see these kinds of stories develop out of the World Series. This is what makes these events so much fun, to see the human drama in every game and see the passion that the fans have for their teams. I hope the Phillies win the Series again, only for the fact tat the Yankees payroll is so high, it is almost like they go out and bankroll a Championship.

Lots of Good News With Albert

Onto the world of Cardinals Baseball, Albert Pujols is mopping up in the awards column. He has won almost every award possible and the best award could be for the St. Louis fans as Albert talks about wanting to spend the rest of  his career here in St. Louis. This is when, the Cards don’t make a mistake as we have seen many other franchises do and let someone go over a few million dollars. How aften have we seen a great player not be able to finish up his career with a team because of monetary reasons?

The first that comes to mind is Isaac Bruce, maybe it wasn’t because of money reasons but he should have been able to finish up his career as a Ram. I think that this just hurts the franchise and the legacy of the player.

Albert is baseball here in St. Louis and he gives back so much to the community. He is the kind of role model we need these days in sports and he is right here in our backyard, St. Louis.
