Current Skate Park passes purchased in 2009 will still be honored at the park.

Lowery Opposing Ameren Rate Hike

Mayor Robert Lowery is joining other cities in the St. Louis area to request that the Missouri Public Service Commission deny the request of Ameren to increase their rate by 18%.

Lowery cited the touch economic times facing the country, and said Ameren should not subject users to the increase.

“I am completely against Ameren’s 18% rate increase and I will work tirelessly to defeat their proposal.”

Florissant Sets Veterans’ Parade, Presentation For Sunday. Nov. 8

Florissant will hold a Veterans’ Parade and presentation of the Veteran of the Year award on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Paul Arca, from KLOU 103.3 radio, will be the Parade Marshall. The parade will step off from the corner of St. Charles and St. Francois streets, near the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. The parade will head east on St. Francois, go one block south on New Florissant to St. Catherine, where it will continue east to Waterford Drive. At Waterford, it will head north to end at the James J. Eagan Civic Center, where the award ceremony will be held and refreshments served to parade participants.

Mayor Robert Lowery said the city expected over 80 units to participate in the parade, including military vehicles, drum corps, marching bands, elected officials and others.

The parade has been held for several years in Florissant. The first parade was held after Norman Sirna, a member of the Veterans’ Commission, suggested that the city host a parade.
