Hazelwood High Schools Fall Plays

Student actors at Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools are taking the stage during this year’s fall play season.

Hazelwood Central High School presents “Dial M for Murder” from October 8 through Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. It is the story of an ex-tennis professional plotting to murder his wife, yet when things go wrong, he improvises and creates another plan. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Hazelwood West High School presents “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” from Oct. 21- 24 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The production tells the story of a creative team’s visit to a wealthy arts patron at her estate to appeal for support for a new show, after their recent Broadway flop in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher.” The house is filled with secret passages, revolving bookcases, shadowy figures and a German maid, all figuring into the mayhem when the “Slasher” strikes again and again. Tickets are $6 at the door.

Hazelwood East High School presents “You Can’t Take it With You” from Oct. 22-24 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The play shares the story of the Sycamores and Kirbys, two families with very different dynamics. The Sycamore’s seem slightly crazy and the Kirby’s seem to be unhappy. Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirby’s, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dinner at the Sycamore house on the wrong evening. Tickets are $6 at the door.
