Margo McNeil Fills Hazelwood SD Board Vacant Seat Until April 4

hazelwood2   During a special meeting held on the evening of Feb. 27, the Hazelwood School District Board of Education voted to fill a vacant seat with the appointment of Mrs. Margo McNeil.

According to Board Policy-BBE-1, Unexpired Term Fulfillment/Vacancies, residents who wanted to be considered to fill the vacancy had to make their desire known by sending a letter to the secretary of the Board by Feb. 15. Residents were required to include their qualifications and their reasons for wishing to serve on the Board.

The secretary of the board received a total of 11 letters from residents who desired to be considered to fill the vacancy, after the recent resignation of Chuck Woods.There was a diverse pool of applicants including, a former board member, a recent Hazelwood alumnae, parents, and other members from the community, a district spokesman said.

McNeil has been appointed to fill the vacant position through the April 4, 2017 election results. McNeil, a state legislator whose term expires because of term limits, is one of candidates for the school board in the April 4th election.
