Meet the Superintendent Dates Set in Hazelwood

The Hazelwood School District is inviting parents and community members to one of three meetings with the District’s new superintendent, Steve Price. The following meetings will be held from 6-7:30 p.m.:

• Thursday, Sept. 16 in the Hazelwood Central High School library

• Monday, Sept. 20 in the Hazelwood East High School library

• Tuesday, Sept. 21 in the Hazelwood West High School library All meetings will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Price assumed the role of superintendent on July 1. He said he is interested in hearing from patrons about the District.

“I would like to hear from community members about what they expect the new superintendent to do,” Dr. Price said. “I would also like to know what community members feel are the most critical issues facing the school district and who should be involved in confronting those issues. I am also interested in knowing the public opinion of our schools.”

Price has more than 32 years of experience in education. He most recently served as the superintendent for seven years in Middletown City Schools, a district of about 7,000 students in Ohio, before resigning in July of 2009. While in Middletown, Price helped improve achievement levels for all students, while reducing the achievement gap. He is also credited with decreasing the dropout rate, creating a unique mentoring program, upgrading facilities and creating a consortium on race and equity in schools.
