Missouri State High School Activities Association Class Three District Five Basketball at Whitfield opened Monday with boys quarterfinals and will close Friday with the Girls final at 5:30 and the Boys final at 7 p.m.
One of these four boys teams — Trinity Catholic, North County Tech, Lutheran North or Orchard Farm — will play one of these four teams — Whitfield, Winfield, Principia or Lutheran-St. Charles County in the boys final game this Friday. Thursday in the girls semifinals Lutheran-St. Charles County or Trinity Catholic will play Lutheran North or Whitfield at 5:30 while the Orchard Farm-Winfield winner will play the Principia-North County Tech winner at 7 p.m., and the winners play Friday. The District Five winners play March 11 at St. Charles West against the District Six winners, boys at 6 p.m. and girls at 7:45, with those winners playing Saturday at Hannibal at 1 p.m. (boys) and 2:45 (girls).
LAST FRIDAY Trinity Catholic in their final home game against John F.. Kennedy honored their only senior player, Jusean Archibald, as all of Archibald’s teammates and the coaching staff including head coach Kelly Thames wore gray T-Shirts with “Archibald” and “32,” his playing number, on the back in crimson. “That was pretty cool to honor him like that,” said Thames after Trinity‘s 54-43 win.
TWO WEEKS AGO North County Christian School won the Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association Boys Class 4A State Basketball title and took second in MCSAA Girls Class 4A State Basketball. NCCS Boys (24-1) defeated Christian Fellowship (Columbia, Mo.), Tower Grove Christian (St. Louis) and Tri-City Christian (Independence, Mo.) to win their second MCSAA State Boys Basketball title and their sixth overall.. The NCCS Girls (17-7) defeated Christian Fellowship and Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis before losing to Blue Ridge Christian (Kansas City).
