Weekend Football Games Leave Mixed Emotions

BY RANDY GARDNER
Half of me is very excited about the huge Rams victory over Dallas Sunday, but the other half of me is hurting after the butt kicking Mizzou got by Texas.

I thought for sure that Gary Pinkel would get his team up to play for this one after the loss to Oklahoma State but Chase Daniel and this team just simply didn’t come to play. Surprisingly, I thought for sure that they would drop out of the top 25 but they didn’t. They only fell to 16, they should be counting their blessings.

These two losses have really brought fans back to reality and maybe brought Chase back to reality. Sometimes this is what a team needs but in all matters, I think their chances of being in the big one are gone. Some big games are left, let’s see how they do.

On the Rams front, who would have seen it coming, I predicted that we would win one of the two against Dallas and Washington but not both. Is this team on a mission for Jim Haslett or what? It is crazy what a different leadership role can do for a team.

They were actually fired up for this one from kickoff on. Both sides of the ball hustled all day long and the chances and opportunities fell in their favor, something we haven’t seen in a few years. With a win against New England and then Arizona at home, the Rams are right back in the hunt— it’s hard to believe.

Cowboys’ Jerry Jones Shows His Class

At Sunday’s game, I had a chance to stand and watch Dallas owner Jerry Jones before the game. This guy is like a rock star, he signed autographs and took pictures with fans for at least 45 minutes. He was real nice and cordial to everyone and in the tunnel after the game; he walked by all of the media guys and politely congratulated everyone on how well the Rams played. Pretty classy.

Coach Haslett, talked about the leadership role of Marc Bulger, that he is finally steeping up to the plate and leading this team, it is little things like this that is going to make a big difference. Lets all not get to excited, but when the playoffs tickets go on sale, you might want to put a hold on yours, because we could be there.

On Saturday night, I took my son to see the Monster trucks that were in town. What other event can you pay money to go see that will fill your lungs up with every bad fumigant known to man and blow out both of your ear drums in one night. But, you have to love it.

Only in America are we willing to go see trucks with huge tires smash cars to pieces as the fans go wild. No matter what I thought, my son loved and I am sure that we will be going again next year. I am already getting my earplugs and funnel mask ready to go.
