Homecoming festivities and a ribbon-cutting ceremony were held  Oct. 12 in celebration of Jennings Senior High School’s new sports complex, which includes a turf football field, an 8-lane track, upgrades to field equipment and a concession stand.

The Homecoming parade started at Fairview Elementary School.  The district’s  Teacher of the Year was grand marshal in the parade. Board of Education members and  Superintendent Tiffany Anderson also participated. The parade ended at Jennings Senior High School with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11.

Funding for the new stadium and a host of other capital projects in Jennings was made possible through the passage of the $11.5 million Proposition J bond issue in April 2011. Board President Miranda Jones expressed appreciation to the community for the support to Proposition J and to the participants of the parade. They included Jennings Mayor Benjamin Sutphin and Country Club Hills Mayor David Powell. She also thanked Missouri State Representatives Sharon Pace and Rochelle Walton Gray who also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.“We are proud of our students, staff and community and the renewed Warrior spirit,” Jones said.

“It’s our goal to give our students the best possible competitive edge in academics, athletics and in the arts,” said Dr. Anderson..

“The new upgrades will make Jennings one of the only North St. Louis County districts to have a turf outdoor sports complex,” said the district’s facilities manager, Henry Ilges. The work was completed by sports facilities contractor, ATG Sports.
