Kohki Idoki from Japan wins the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, roaring past Kenny Perry and Jay Haas on the final day of the tournament to shoot a 6-under-par 65, as he goes 11 strokes under par, taking away the Alfred S. Bourne Trophy and a cool $378,000 on a warm and rain-threatening Sunday afternoon at Bellerive Country Club.

Idoki traveled a long way from his homeland to just get to America’s Heartland, but he still needed to walk about 2 more miles on soft grasses over 4 days of competition and carry a good golf game along with him to claim the victory.  He is the first Asian male to win the Senior event, and he gets an automatic Lifetime entry into future Senior PGA Championships, as well as the 2013 PGA Championship, Senior British Open and U.S. Senior open.  Quite a prestigious win for Idoki, who made his first visit to America pay off handsomely.

Haas and Perry ended with a 9-under total, with both players having some troubles in the final day of play.  Idoki earned his win by one-putting 10 holes of the final 18, leading the tournament in putts-per green and tying for first in birdies (19) and total putts (108).
