So Many Things Are Coming Down The Pipe in Sports World

BY RANDY GARDNER

Where do we start today, so much to talk about? Not a lot about any particular subject but just a little about many different subjects. Think of it as your typical conversation amongst sports fans; most people including myself know just enough about any one subject to make us dangerous.

Let’s start off with the Cardinals, can you believe that this team is only 2 or 3 games out of first place on any given day. Is the team that good or is the division that bad. The Cubs are in a first place tie with Milwaukee but you know if the past is of any certainty, the Cubbieswill fall apart really soon.

Last week, I talked about Rick Ankiel and his phenomenal story as part of his comeback, how would the fairytale end if he helps the team make it to the post season. Right now, it is just day by day, just sit back and see what the team will do as we come off a big comeback win on Tuesday night in the 8th inning.

—–Special teams Still A Rams Concern—–

Now on to the Rams, what do you think? They are sitting at 1-1 right now. Its so hard to tell this early in the season but I had high hopes for this team in the preseason but we saw a lot of the same problems we have seen in years past in last weeks game against the Chargers.

Special teams have always been a huge problem and it cost them in this game also. Should we worry though. Some of the feedback that I have gotten has been, its only preseason don’t worry but others have said that it is lining up to be the same old Rams teams of the past few years. I will be a bit more optimistic and say this team will win 10 games this year. Well check that prediction in December.

—–Suburban North is Strong as Usual—-

I have not had a chance to get out and see much high school football practice action so far this year but I do know one thing is that the Suburban North will be strong again this year after coming off a huge year last year.

It is great to turn on the tube in the NFL preseason and see and hear a handful of names of Suburban North players from the past playing in the league. This says a lot for the talent that comes out of our area. Hopefully I will get a chance sometime this year to talk to some of these guys.

I definitely want to ask them about their feelings about players and charges and what should be done with players that have gotten in trouble with the law and the league. We hear so much about what the fans and the media think and what they think should be done but what about the players in the league and their feelings.

The U.S. Women’s National Team coming to St. Louis on Oct. 13 at the Edward Jones Dome. Get out and support it. We are a great soccer city; let’s show it to the world.
