Hazelwood School District Sets ACT Workshops for October 23 Exam

For the second consecutive year, students in the Hazelwood School District who are preparing to take the ACT college entrance exam can take advantage of workshops hosted by the District. The next national exam date is Saturday, Oct. 23.

The workshops are offered in two formats –Test-Taking Strategies Workshop and Content Review for Math, Science and English.

ACT Test-Taking Strategies is offered in six-hour time frames and is free. ACT Content Review for Math, Science and English, is offered in six-hour time frames for a $10 fee. Students are eligible to receive reimbursement of the ACT registration fee and/or receive an ACT fee waiver voucher for completing a six-hour workshop.

Sessions are scheduled on Saturdays, after school and evenings throughout 2010-2011 for all national exam dates.

A Saturday workshop for Content Review is scheduled for Oct. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the HSD Learning Center, 15955 New Halls Ferry Road. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch.

After-school sessions for Content Review are scheduled on Oct. 7 and 12 from 2:35  to 4:35  at Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools.

For Test-Taking Strategies for Math, Science and English, the Saturday workshop is Oct. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the HSD Learning Center. After-school workshops are set for Oct. 14, Oct. 19 and Oct. 21, also from 2:35 to 4:35 at each high school. Evening study groups are Oct. 19 through Oct. 21 from 6:30  to 8:30 p.m. at Hazelwood West High School.

HSD students must sign up for the workshops in the guidance office at their high school.
