Florissant Considers Annexation Proposal of Area Near Golf Course

By Carol Arnett

The Florissant City Council held the first and second readings on a bill that would begin the annexation process for an area near the city’s golf course.

The area, known as Area 13, is adjacent to the northeast boundary lines of the city and the city’s golf club along Coldwater Creek, west of Old Halls Ferry Road, Sound of Lindbergh, and north of Coldwater Creek.

The city must file a Plan of Intent with the St. Louis Council Boundary Commission. If the boundary commission approves the plan, the annexation will be put before the voters in the annexation area and in the rest of the city. If the annexation receives a majority of votes in both the annexation area and the rest of the city, the area will be annexed.

Councilwoman Karen McKay said that the boundary commission had turned down this annexation in the past. She said she will be supporting the annexation.

The council will hold a third reading on the bill at the next council meeting.
