Kaiser Named 2010 Veteran Of The Year by Veteran’s Coalition

Walter Kaiser has been named St. Louis County Veteran’s Coalition 2010 Veteran of the Year.

Kaiser is the current chair of the Florissant Citizen’s Corps Emergency Management Commission, had eight deployments with FEMA, is a member of the Florissant Parks Board, over 35 years with the Boy Scouts of America, volunteers at the James McDonnell USO, and is an instructor in the AARP Safe Driving Program.

Kaiser entered the Army in 1950 and took basic training in Fort Ord, California, then to Fort Sam Houston to take medical training, however his services were needed elsewhere. He spent two tours in Korea and one in Japan and other posts throughout the U.S.

Kaiser has been awarded the Soldiers Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Ranger Tab and others. He has served time on active duty, time with the National Guard, and time in the Army Reserve. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Kaiser has been married to his wife, Susan, for nearly 55 years and the couple has two children and five grandchildren.
