The Hazelwood School District graduated 1,344 seniors in the class of 2010 in ceremonies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the Mark Twain Building.
Commencement were held on different nights for each high school – Hazelwood East High, May 24; Hazelwood West High, May 25; and Hazelwood Central High, May 26. Students in the ACE Alternative Education program graduated on May 27 in the auditorium at Hazelwood Central High School
Outside of academics, a requirement to graduating from high school is performing 50 hours of community service. Over the last four years, the classes of 2010 from HSD contributed 124,723 hours of time, talent and effort.
At Hazelwood Central High, the class gave 53,613.5 hours of service. Three seniors had the highest number of donated hours – Christopher Webb gave 1,583.5 hours; Tyler Robinson gave 1,550.5 hours; and Brianne Heisinger gave 810 hours.
Hazelwood East High School gave 20,637 hours of service. The highest number of hours was performed by Meldrick Woods with 752 hours; Desiray Marie Dotson-Anderson with 511 hours; and Quartesha M. Cole with 504 hours.
Hazelwood West High School gave 50,473 hours of service. The leaders from their graduating class include Abigail Feldman with 1,274 hours; Kathleen Schutzenhofer with 654 hours; and Phillip Dunn with 483 hours.
The HSD class of 2010 also earned more than $12.2 million in college scholarships. Following commencement, the schools hosted Project Graduation events to provide safe, alcohol and drug-free environments to celebrate the students’ milestone.
