North County Inc. Names Annual Business, Community Awards; Will Honor Lowell Girardier

North County Incorporated (NCI) has announced  its annual Business Development, Community Development, Elmer Belsha Leadership, and Public Service Award recipients have been chosen.  A special Memorial Award will also be given out this year  to honor Lowell Girardier who died this month.

The 2010 award recipients will be honored at NCI’s 33rd Annual Breakfast on Friday, May 21, at 7:30 a.m. at the St. Louis Airport Marriott.  This year’s presenting sponsors are HDR Engineering and SSM DePaul Health Center.  The public can attend and tickets are  $37 per person.  Generous sponsorship packages are still available.  Reservations are required; call NCI at 895-6241.

North St. Louis County recently lost a respected businessman, Lowell Girardier, a true community advocate, and a founding member of NCI and long-time board member.  Mr.  Girardier was wner of Girardier Building and Realty, Company.  NCI’s Chairwoman of the Board Kim Bakker will present Beverly Girardier with a special Memorial Award at this year’s event as a small token of the organization’s deep appreciation for the dedication and leadership that Lowell  brought this community for so many years.

NCI’s Business Development Awards are presented to those whose efforts positively affect the economic development and business climate of the North County area.  NCI will honor Bommarito of Hazelwood, Nissan, Honda and Volkswagen, the Express Scripts High-Volume Fulfillment Center Partnership, and the NARA Project Partnership with Business Development Awards.

The Express Scripts High-Volume Fulfillment Center Partnership includes:  Express Scripts, NorthPark Partners, and St. Louis County Economic Council.  The NARA Project Partnership includes:  U.S. Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond, U.S. Congressman William Lacy Clay, Jr., Mr. John Londoff, Sr., The Molasky Group of Companies, National Archives and Records Administration, State of Missouri, St. Louis County, St. Louis County Economic Council, and U.S. General Service Agency.

NCI’s Community Development Awards are presented to those whose efforts positively benefit youth, residents, civic organizations, or others through selfless acts.  Lottie Holland Wade, Spanish Lake Youth Needs Taskforce Chair, and the Overland Business Association were chosen for this award.

Mark Tranel, Ph.D. will receive the Elmer Belsha Leadership Award, which is presented annually to an individual whose long-term commitment to the North County region and NCI has had a positive impact on the community and/or pubic body.,

Public Service Awards will be presented to outstanding individuals, elected, appointed, or employed by a public body whose long-time service has had a positive impact on the community and/or public body they serve.  Councilman Keith English, City of Florissant, and City Manager Ed Carlstrom, City of Hazelwood will be this year’s Public Service Award recipients.
