Energy Grant Could Save Florissant $80,000 per Year

Florissant has submitted a grant application under the Energize Missouri Communities Program of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources which sets up the competitive grant process to distribute Federal Stimulus funding.

“If granted, the funds would help pay for a comprehensive $495,000 package of Energy Efficient Retrofits within all city buildings and save the city over $80,000 a year in energy cost,” said Mayor Robert Lowery. “Over 25 years, the savings would equate to over $2 million in energy savings at city facilities.”

The program would include: avoiding over 17,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year; create jobs; reduce overall utility expenditures; and publicize the energy retrofit project to the public, advocating energy savings strategies.
