Florissant Vietnam Veterans #794 Celebrates 20 Years

Vietnam Veterans 794   For 20 years now, the Florissant Valley Chapter 794 of Vietnam Veterans of America has been serving the Florissant area, as well as fellow veterans. The group of Vietnam veterans as well as era veterans received its charter on Oct. 6, 1997.

During those 20 years, the group has come to the aid of veterans of all periods who are in need. House payments, car payments and utilities are an example of the aid they have provided to veterans.

In 2003, one of the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Walls was on display at the James Eagan Civic Center because of efforts by the chapter. Adrian Cronauer of the film Good Morning Vietnam was flown in from Washington D.C. to appear as a speaker during the time the wall was in Florissant.

As a service to the community, the chapter has worked with the Florissant Police Department to provide equipment for the K9 units. Bullet proof vests, special cages, bite suits and bailout units have been provided during the 13 years of their relationship with the police department.

Donations to TEAM, The USO of Missouri, Bikers for Babies are just a few of the over 20 organizations that have received support from this group of veterans. Additionally, they are the sponsor for Boy Scout Troop 749 in Florissant.
