Shade Restaurant Pending; Nephew’s Grill Approved

Florissant Approves Nephew’s Grill, Shade Restaurant Pending

By Carol Arnett

The Florissant City Council met via Zoom Monday for their first March meeting. It was a short agenda, with no public hearings.
The council had a long discussion about Shade Restaurant at their last meeting. At this meeting, they had a second reading on a bill scheduled. The bill would allow live performances and a cover charge at the restaurant at 1752-1756 New Florissant.
Councilman Robert Parson, Jr. moved that the bill be continued until the next meeting. He said there were some changes made recently to the bill and he would like to review those changes before voting. The council voted to continue.
The council voted yes on a bill to approve a special use permit to allow for a carry-out restaurant at 2170 N. Waterford. This will be a Nephew’s Grill. There are Nephew’s Grills in downtown St. Louis and Berkeley.
The council also voted yes on a bill that would establish a part-time position of Senior Citizen Specialist.
The council also approved a request for full liquor by the drink license for Olympic Lanes, at 12751 New Halls Ferry Road.
There was a procedural change as the council voted to change the start times of the meetings to 7 p.m. going forward.
