MARDI GRAS IN OLD TOWN FLORISSANT

First Annual Mardi Gras was held and enjoyed on Feb. 15.

Florissant Old Town Partners Presented “Mardi Gras Prom Party Fleurisant Style” on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, and a fun time was had at this adults only event. More than 100 people came to Florissant’s first Mardi Gras, which was held at the Florissant Civic Center.

Cocktails, including New Orleans themed ones, were served to start the evening. Dinner, which including New Orleans fare, such as Cajun Chicken Pasta, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, and King Cake, followed. The ticket prices were all inclusive for drinks, food, and entertainment.

From 8:00 – 8:30 pm, dance music was provided by M. G. DJ Service, after which Lady J Huston and the 2nd Line Brass Band took the stage. A New Orleans style parade with traditional costumes, umbrellas, followed Lady Hudson and the 2nd Line Brass Band around the gym to the tune of “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

In addition to raffles and a 50/50 drawing, cash prizes for guest were also awarded. Prom King and Queen – Best Dressed Couple won $50, and the best Dressed Individual won $25.

The Event Sponsor was Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers – Florissant. Carnival Sponsors were Amore pizza, Beacon Vitual Assistants, and Kling Kamera Booth. Royal Court Sponsor was Dogs on Duty.
