Harry Behlmann is Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce ‘Outstanding Businessperson of the Year’

The Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce has named Harry Behlmann as its 2007 Outstanding Businessperson of the Year. He will be honored at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, from 6:30-10 p.m., at Yacovelli’s Restaurant, 407 Dunn Road.

Behlmann has built, owned and operated several successful businesses in the Florissant area for the past 50 years. Harry and his brother, Lambert, started Florissant Dairy Stores in 1958.

After 25 years they decided to change with the times and the concept of IGGY’s Frozen Yogurt was born. Harry, Lambert and Harry’s son Jeff built five locations in the St. Louis area.

After 15 years in the frozen yogurt business, Harry, along with sons Jeff and Tim, decided to go into the sign business as Behlmann Sign Company, 210 rue St. Francois.

Behlmann has been a member of the Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce for the past 48 years, serving as a board of director and on many chamber committees. He is a member of the St. Ferdinand Lions Club and served as president from 2005-2006. He is a member of Florissant Old Town Partners and American Legion Post 444.

Behlmann and his wife, Barb, have four children, Mickey, Jeff, Tim and Shari. He is a grandfather of nine and a great-grandfather of three. He works alongside his family at Behlmann Sign Company.

On April 20, the chamber will install the 2007-2008 board of directors with Chris Wright, superintendent of the Hazelwood School District, as board chairwoman.
