GNCC Business Person of the Year:
Cathy Bono Honored

Cathy Bono, the 2019 Business Person of the Year, was honored on Feb. 20 at the luncheon in her honor by the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce held at Catering to You.
Bono has devoted over 37 years of her life to caring for thousands and thousands of dear residents with a passionate focus of adhering to the Delmar Gardens Philosophy of “Love, Care and Understanding” each and every day.
“Cathy has been committed to making a positive impact in our community and we are so thrilled that she is receiving this prestigious award,” said Venus Martz, president of the Greater North County Chamber.
As a North County resident for most of her adult life, her dedication and support of North County businesses is unwavering. For over 12 years, she has served on the Mayors’ Ball committee in support of Valley Industries. She is a longstanding member of the Missouri Healthcare Association (MHCA), North County Chamber of Commerce, North County Incorporated and the Soroptomist Club.
Bono obtained her Administrator license in 1975 and joined the Delmar Gardens Family as an administrator at Delmar Gardens on the Green in 1978 and remained there for 10 years. In 1988, she was appointed to be the administrator at the newest Delmar Gardens location, Delmar Gardens North, and remains there today. “Cathy’s leadership qualities coupled with her innate ability to manage her treasured employees has been invaluable to serving our dear residents and their families in North County,” stated Gabe Grossberg, Delmar Gardens’ president and CEO. “Her career as a resident advocate and administrator spans over 40 years of enhancing the lives of thousands of seniors,” Grossberg concluded.
Bono spearheaded and ran the Missouri Healthcare Association (MHCA) Senior Beauty Pageant for District 7. She has been a vital part of North County commerce and growth, spending countless hours on many boards and committees including the YMCA, Black Jack Business Association, Alzheimer’s Association, and St. Louis County Ambulance Commission to name a few. Bono can also be found most Saturday mornings volunteering for TEAM (The Emergency Assistance Ministry) Food Pantry.
Bono has received many healthcare awards throughout her career. She was named MCHA’s Member of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Citizen of the Year, as well as receiving the MCHA’s most esteemed award, the Life Service Award.
