Haunted Scream Park in Nation

Also operated by the builders of The Darkness, Creepyworld is America’s Biggest Haunted Screampark, now with 13 haunted attractions in one location including two all-new haunted attractions: Trick R Treat Haunted Hayride and Quarantine World War Zombie.

Creepyworld also features haunted houses themed around zombies, clowns, hospitals, prisons, cemeteries, corn mazes and even Krampus, a Christmas Horror Story.

A world-class Haunted Hayride is open at Creepyworld for the 2018 season. This hayride enters the deadliest neighborhood ever created, home to serial killers, slashers, demons, and worse. Trick R Treat haunted hayride is filled with amazing special effects, animations and Hollywood-style set design.

This scream park takes roughly one and a half hors to get through and is definitely worth the entry fee.

 

‘Super Villains or Super Heroes’

at Powder Valley Oct. 19

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host “Super Villains or Super Heroes” from 6–9:30 p.m., Friday. Oct. 19 at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, 11715 Cragwold Road. Visitors will uncover how all wildlife has a special role in nature, even ones that can annoy us, such as mosquitoes. Guests become myth busters as they learn about creepy critters that often seen in a negative light, especially around Halloween.

Families will explore super heroes such as owls, spiders, bats, and even cave life from ‘Charlotte’s: Web of Life’ characters on the nature center’s Tanglevine Trail.

The evening’s tricks and treats are geared to ‘shed some light on these creatures of the dark and enable visitors to discover how important they are to all of us and our environment,” said MDC Naturalist Rebecca Rodriguez.

Adults can become community super heroes by donating blood before the evening event. Powder Valley is hosting a “Super Hero Blood Drive” from 3–6 p.m. in cooperation with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Call 314-301-1500 or going online at BloodCenterImpact.org.

 

Historic Little Creek 50th

Anniversary Party Oct. 20

The Little Creek Nature Area, 2295 Dunn Rd. will host a 50-year anniversary celebration from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be at McCluer High School, 1896 S. New Florissant Rd., where shuttles will transport attendees to Little Creek.

The anniversary celebration will begin with a blessing by Native Americans who were some of the first inhabitants of the area. The day will include live music from Strings Attached and entertainment by Ferguson-Florissant students; guided tours of the preserve’s ADA-accessible nature trails; nature-based arts and crafts; flint knapping, finger weaving and wool dying demonstrations; interactive activities such as birdhouse making and painting; a wild bird release; farm animal feeding and other activities. For two dollars per person, attendees may enjoy a hayride that will stop for apple pressing. Partners such as the Department of Natural Resources, US Fish and Wildlife, Forest ReLeaf, the Audobon Society, St. Louis Zoo, Wildlife Rescue and Earth Dance will be on hand to provide information and conduct hands-on activities. A panel discussion on the history of Little Creek is also scheduled as part of the day’s activities.

We are excited about celebrating the 50-years existence of Little Creek Nature Area,” said Eric Hadley Little Creek’s coordinator. “Since 1968, the North St. Louis County nature preserve has served as a nature-filled outdoor classroom for educators and students, and a place of solace and discovery for area nature lovers. Our 50-year celebration will be a fun-filled, adventurous day for nature lovers of all ages.”

 

Eagan Center to Hold Family Boo Bash Oct. 27

A Family Boo Bash will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the James J. Eagan Center. Kids, come dressed in costume and trick or treat at the James J. Eagan Center from Florissant Parks and Recreation staff, other city departments and local businesses and organizations. There will be food trucks, activities, games and plenty of treats and candy! This event is free and open to everyone.

Local businesses and organizations are also invited to participate in the first ever Family Boo Bash. We will provide you with a space to distribute coupons, flyers and any other marketing material you wish and all you have to do is pass out candy or treats to the community attending this event. Free Science Spooktacular at Science Center Oct. 25-28 Nightly

Join the St. Louis Science Center for spooky fun science! The free annual Halloween event now features four evenings of spooky chills and science thrills, Oct. 25-28. Bring your young ghouls, goblins, astronauts and dinosaurs to our Halloween celebration and get hands-on with spellbinding science at this family-friendly event. The whole family is encouraged to come in costume.

(Visitors over the age of 12 are asked not to wear masks.)

Event highlights include hands-on activities; live science demonstrations; special effects in the Haunted Lab; spooky Trail in GROW; Halloween Films in the OMNIMAX Theater; prop making in Makerspace; pictures with Ghostbusters and complimentary parking. Call 314-289-4400 for info.

Great Godfrey Maze Open Now Through Oct. 28

The Great Godfrey Maze, located at the Robert E. Glazebrook Community Park, 1401 Stamper Ln. is now open for the season and will run through Oct. 28.The maze is open on weekends, and Columbus Day and is open after dark Fridays and Saturdays from 6-10 p.m. Flashlights are required for those traveling the twists and turns of the maze after dark. Flashlights are available for purchase.

Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 11 and children under five are free. Enjoy the ever-popular Cow Train and Hay Wagon rides and the new Jumping Pillow! Additional tickets required. Call (618) 466-1483 for more information.

 

Fright Fest Ends Oct. 28

Fright Fest is back for select days through Oct. 28 at Six Flags St. Louis. Enjoy thrills and activities for the whole family.

Fright Fest has several haunted houses and scare zones located throughout the park. New thrills for 2018 include Project Chromo: a classified experiment area where half men, half animals lurk; Blood Bank: a great place to find Halloween-themed drinks.

Grant’s Farm First Ever Fall Fest for Families

New this year, Grant’s Farm is celebrating fall with its inaugural Fall Fest. Now through Oct. 28, guests can enjoy family-friendly activities at the Budweiser Clydesdales stables each Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The family-friendly celebration has a variety of fall-themed activities for kids to enjoy, including an inflatable corn maze, pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating station, pictures with the Budweiser Clydesdales and more.

The pumpkin patch and animal showings are free to all guests. The Kid Activity is $6 per child per day to enter. Adults can enter the Kid Activity Zone at no cost.

Boo at the Zoo Nights Until Oct. 30

Bring your little ghouls and goblins for a non-scary, kid-friendly Halloween experience at Boo at the Zoo, nightly through Oct. 30. Children are encouraged to wear costumes from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and receive a $1 discount with on-site admission. Children 12 and under will receive a treat bag upon exiting. Boo at the Zoo Nights is not a trick-or-treating experience.

Admission includes entrance to Boo at the Zoo Nights, the Conservation Carousel and the 4D Theater featuring “Happy Family 4D.” The cost is $7 for Zoo members (ages 2+), $8 for non-members (ages 2+), and free for children under 2.

There are many festive fun activities including pick a pumpkin, paint a pumpkin at the Tropical Traders gift shop (additional fee $5/pumpkin); Fragile Forest Fairyland sponsored by Delta Dental of Missouri; walk the plank in Pirates’ Cove sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.

Take a break from the Halloween action at the kids’ game area behind Stingrays. Play games like limbo, Halloween-themed beanbag toss, tic tac toe and more. Sea Lion shows are offered at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m inside the Sea Lion Sound arena and are free with paid admission to Boo at the Zoo. Tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis outside the Sea Lion Sound ticket booth so be sure to stop by early!

Halloween Swim & Skate Oct. 31 at Eagan Center

New this Halloween the ice rink and indoor pool at James J. Eagan Center will remain open from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 31 so families can enjoy the amenities after they trick or treat. The building will be decorated for Halloween and the recreation staff will have plenty of candy to pass out so make sure to visit them for a few treats as well!

Guests must pay the regular daily admission shown for the ice rink and the pool. It will also be resident family night for both locations! A resident family with valid resident cards living in the same household can get into either the pool or ice rink for only $4 total!
