The Missouri State High School Activities Association began sanctioning State Championships in Girls Soccer in 1985, and Incarnate Word has won 32 MSHSAA District titles in a row.
Make that 34 in a row. Beginning in 1983 IWA had won two consecutive district titles before MSHSAA took control in state.
Beginning May 16 IWA begins their quest for their 35th consecutive district title, 34th in the MSHSAA at home with a top seed in Class Three, District Six and a 4 p.m. game against fourth-seeded Riverview Gardens. After the IWA-RG game second-seeded University City and third-seeded McCluer meet at IWA beginning around 5:30. Winners from May 16 return to IWA May 18 for the district title beginning at 4 p.m.
The Class Three, District Six winner travels to the District Five winner in the May 23 Sectional with the winner playing in the May 27 Quarterfinal. Should the District Six winner in general, and IWA in particular, win the sectional that team would host the Quarterfinal and that winner heads to Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City for the June 2 Semifinal and the Third-Place or Championship game on June 3.
With nine state girls titles IWA currently holds the MSHSAA state record but has not won since 2009. Nearly two month ago IWA set an MSHSAA state record for Girls Basketball titles with eight.
CLASS FOUR — McCluer North is the second seed second in District Three and will play around 5:15 May 16 against third-seeded Hazelwood Central at the North Athletic Complex on the north side of St. Charles Rock Road between Brown Road and Interstate 170. The Class Four, District three winner hosts the Class Four, District Four winner in the May 23 Sectional and that winner plays the District One champion or the District Two champion in the May 27 Quarterfinal. The State Semifinal, Third-Place and Championship games are June 2-3 at Swope Soccer Village.
