Trinity Volleyball Seeks District 3-Peat

Since moving from Class Three to Class Two a coupe of years ago Trinity Catholic Girls Volleyball has won two straight district titles.
Since opening in Aug. 2003 as a result of the merging of St. Thomas Aquinas-Mercy and Rosary Trinity has won five district titles. However Trinity is 0-5 in sectional matches including losses to 2015 State Champion Lutheran St. Charles County (now in Class Three) and 2014 State Runner Up Fatima.
This year Trinity is the top seed and gets a first-round bye in Class Two, District Five at Crossroads College Prep, located on DeBaliviere, St. Louis, North of Forest Park. The Tournament begins Oct. 17 as North Tech plays Northwest Academy of Law at 4:30, second-seeded Lutheran North plays Sumner at 5:30 and third-seeded Crossroads plays Collegiate School of Medicine-Bioscience at 6:30. On Oct. 18 or 19 Trinity plays North Tech or Northwest Academy at 4:30 while the winners of the Oct. 17 5:30 and 6:30 games play at 5:30 and the two semifinal winners play at a date to be determined, no later than Oct. 20, at 5 p.m.
CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT FIVE, McCLUER is the host of the tournament and will play the last game of Oct. 17, 7 p.m. against third-seeded Hazelwood West after second-seeded Hazelwood Central plays Riverview Gardens at 5:30, and those two winners meet Oct. 19 at 5:30. The tournament opens Oct. 17 with a 4 p.m. game between McCluer North and Hazelwood East with the winner playing the first Oct. 19 semifinal game against top-seeded Ritenour at 4 p.m. The two semifinal winners meet in the final Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
SECTIONALS will be played Oct. 22 at the winners of District Seven, which plays the District Six at 2:30 or 4:30 after the winners of District Five play the winners of District Eight at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. and the semifinal winners play 30 minutes after the second semifinal. The State Tournament will be played Oct. 28-29 at the Show Me Center, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau.
BOYS SOCCER — Classes One and two begin Oct. 17 and John Burroughs will host Class Two District Five and open play that day at 4 p.m. against North Tech while Trinity plays Lutheran North at the same time. Those two winners play Oct. 19, 4 p.m. at Burroughs and the winner plays at the champion of District Six in an Oct. 25 Sectional, the Quarterfinal is Oct. 29 at site to be determined and the State Championships will be Nov. 4-5 at Word Wide Technology Soccer Park, Fenton.
Classes Three and Four will have districts Oct. 22-29, Sectionals, at even-numbered district winners, are Nov. 1, Quarterfinals are Nov. 5 at sites to be determined and the State Championships are Nov. 11-12 at WWT. Soccer Park. Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood West and McCluer North are in Class Four, District Four at Pattonville Stadium while McCluer is in Class Two, District Seven at Fort Zumwalt South.
CROSS COUNTRY — Koch Park will be the site for Class Four District Three on Oct. 22 and Hazelwood West will host the meet with 14 Boys and 13 Girls teams competing including West, Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, McCluer North, McCluer, Riverview Gardens, Chaminade, Nerinx Hall and St. Louis University High. The top four teams and individuals from other teams that finish in the top 30 advance to Sectional Two at Warrenton against qualifiers from District Four and the top four sectional finishers and individuals from other teams that finish in the top 30 advance to State Nov. 5 at Oak Hills Golf Center, Jefferson City.
SOFTBALL — Hazelwood West won Class Four, District Six at home in a pair of routs. West wiped out McCluer 15-0, with the game called in the third inning as Desirae Yost scored three runs including two home runs and drove in six runs. West wrapped up the district title by rolling over McCluer North 10-1 as Alexandria Cafolla struck out 11 while Chloe Johnson scored twice including a homer and drove in four.
