Hazelwood West Marching Band in Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Marching Band at Hazelwood West High School will march in the 75th Anniversary of the Chicago McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade will be televised live on WGN from 8-11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

After the outstanding performance at last Year’s New Year’s Day at the Gator Bowl
in Jacksonville, Florida, the Marching Wildcats were anxious to participate in another great event. After submitting video footage and an application, they were invited to march in the Thanksgiving Day Parade to be held in Chicago.

Band director Aaron Jackson said this is an honor and credit to each member of the Hazelwood West Marching Band. The band is a disciplined, hard-working unit whose work begins in July in the heat of the summer and is ending with this great opportunity in Chicago, said Jackson.

The band consists of 95 Hazelwood West High School students from throughout the Florissant, Hazelwood, Bridgeton and Berkeley area.

The Marching Wildcats Booster Club, which consists of students, parents and friends working together, has worked hard this past year to raise the funds to send the members of the Hazelwood West Marching Band to Chicago, IL to march in the 75th Annual Chicago McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade. Some of the events that took place were a trivia night, mouse race, pizza sales and car washes.
