Even the Rams Can Make You Thankful

BY RANDY GARDNER

Since it is a Holiday week I am going to be really nice and talk about all of the things that I and most of you should be thankful for this year.

First off, I am thankful for the two big wins from the St. Louis Rams this year so far. Without those wins we would have the same amount of rushing yards that we had against the Bears after three quarters, that’s right three quarters, and that would be 0. How can you go 45 minutes and not have a rushing yard.

Secondly, I am thankful that we have someone like Richie Incognito on this team because it gives me something to write about.

After the Bears game, Incognito walked to the tunnel through a roar of boos and then taunted the fans by putting his hands up and egging them on, like he couldn’t hear them and then walked off. What the he#%. These are people that are paying a lot of money to come and see you play.

I would not tolerate this for one second as an organization. Its shameful and I hope that Rams fans let him know this week how much they were disrespected. Next, I am thankful that there is such a thing called ticket selling or trading or scalping, as many would call it because without that, there might only be about 30,000 people at a Rams game. Almost every game of late, the visiting team makes it feel like a home game for them. The cheers are just as loud for the opposition. What happened to that Greatest Show on Turf? Okay enough of that.

Be Thankful for Families and Friends

In all seriousness, this is a time to be thankful for so much, our families and friends that are with us everyday of the year. I know that almost every week in my column I am going off on someone or something but in the real scheme of things lets remember that everyone is human and sports have their place in society.

We have to be true passionate fans but remember all of the players have families and friends too, I think they really try to do their best ,but they just can’t see our perspective on things because they live in a different world than we do in a day and age of extraordinary salaries. Right now, the average player will make in a year what most people will make in a lifetime. I think that they have to be mindful of this as they give back to the community, remember in the end, it is we the fans that ultimately pay their salary.

I just want to say thanks on this Thanksgiving to my family, friends, and coworkers that I surround myself with everyday. It is truly a pleasure to be with all of them everyday and to everyone who reads my column and watches our shows on Channel 20, thank you so much. It is truly my pleasure and treat to get to do this all for you. It means so much when I hear those positive comments from you. Once again, Happy Thanksgiving, don’t eat too much and enjoy the games on Turkey Day, Gobble!!Gobble!!
