Prep Notebook: Trinity Catholic Soccer Faces Saxony Lutheran in MSHSAA Quarterfinals

Trinity Catholic Boys Soccer advances to the MSHSAA Class One Quarterfinals this Thursday at 5 p.m. when the Titans play on Field 5 at the Anheuser-Busch Center, Fenton, against Saxony Lutheran, a high school based in Jackson, Mo., off Interstate 55, and just opened this decade.

The winner plays Nov. 21-22 in the state tournament at the A-B Center. That includes an 11 a.m. game Nov. 21 against Concordia-St. Paul Lutheran or Kansas City St. Pius X. Last week Trinity Catholic, at home, defeated Carnahan High of the Future, 2-0, Crossroads College Prep, 5-2, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights, 8-0, to win Class One, District One.

McCLUER NORTH played Seckman (Imperial) Tuesday in the Class Three Sectionals and the winner plays Saturday, 7 p.m., against Vianney or Parkway West in the Quarterfinals at the A-B Center, on Field 5. Last week McCluer North defeated McCluer, 2-0, and Hazelwood Central, 3-1, to win Class Three, District Two at the Florissant Civic Center Park.

NORTH COUNTY CHRISTIAN took second place in the Missouri Christian State Tournament, Oct. 23-25 in Joplin. Tim Hancock, Tyler Bolton and Kendall Smith made the Missouri Christian All-State team.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL — INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY took third place last Friday-Saturday in the MSHSAA State tournament at Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium. IWA took fourth in round robin semifinals play last Friday losing 2-0 to eventual state champion St. Joseph’s Academy, 25-13, 25-23, and Lee’s Summit West, 25-20, 25-17 and going 1-1 in splitting their match with Glendale, 25-22, 18-25. In last Saturday’s third place match IWA won 2-1 over Glendale, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21

NORTH COUNTY CHRISTIAN took seventh place in the Missouri Christian State Tournament, Oct. 23-25 in Joplin and won the Sportsmanship Award.

CROSS COUNTRY — LUTHERAN NORTH took sixth in the MSHSAA Class Two Girls State meet last Saturday in Jefferson City. Senior Sarah Bachmann took 13 while sophomore Anna Rathje took 19th place. In Boys State Hazelwood East senior Charles Johnson took 24th place in Class Four while McCluer South-Berkeley sophomore Will Taylor took 36 in Class Three.
