Riverview, Parkway North Hosts Class 2 Girls Tennis; Girls Golf In Wentzville

Riverview Gardens and Parkway North High Schools will be the hosts of Class Two District Tournaments and for the first time there will be separate individual and team tournaments.

Riverview will host District Six with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, McCluer North and McCluer in the five-team field. Parkway North will compete against Hazelwood West, Incarnate Word Academy, Pattonville and Ritenour.

Riverview and Parkway North will host the individual tournament with each school sending two singles players and two doubles teams and they can not play on both. The individual tournaments must close by Oct. 9 and the top two singles players and doubles teams from Riverview and Parkway North will advance to a one-round Sectional played Oct. 11-13 at Riverview for the right to advance to state, Oct. 22-23 in Springfield.

The team tournaments will be seeded and paired off in single-elimination competition that will take place Oct. 4-8 at the higher-seeded team site or neutral site. Each team match is a dual match consisting of six singles matches followed by three doubles matches. The Class Two district champions from Districts Five and Six will compete in a four-team sectional Oct. 16, no earlier than Oct. 14, at the winner of District Five and the Team Sectional winner advances to state Oct. 21 in Springfield.

In Class One Lutheran North will compete against Crossroads College Prep, Northwest Academy of Transportation and Law, Soldan International Studies and Sumner in District Four.

GIRLS GOLF — The road to state for Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East Hazelwood West, Incarnate Word, McCluer North, Parkway Central, Parkway North, Parkway West, Pattonville, Ritenour and St. Joseph’s Academy begin Sept. 29 with District Three at the Golf Course in Wentzville. The road continues Oct 6 with the Sectional Two meet at Bear Creek Golf Club, Wentzville and ends Oct 18-19 with the state championships at Twin Oaks Country Club.

The top two teams in the district tournament and the top 15 golfers, plus ties,  from teams finishing third or lower in district play will advance to the sectional round.
