Ferguson Names Matt Unrein As Acting City Manager

The Ferguson City Council voted Tuesday, May 12, to name Matt Unrein as Acting City Manager effective Saturday, May 16. Unrein will replace Pam Hylton who recently accepted a position as Assistant City Manager for Richmond Heights. Hylton was appointed Interim City Manager on March 24 to replace John Shaw who resigned.

“There are some significant changes that are taking place in the City of Ferguson,” said Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III. “Matt has served the City of Ferguson for more than two years and we are confident in his ability to make sure day-to-day operations are taking place in a timely and sufficient manner,” Knowles added.

Ferguson will continue its search to hire a municipal government interim staffing firm that specializes in placing professionals in local government positions on a temporary basis. The firm will assist with the hiring of an Interim City Manager and Interim Assistant City Manager so that the positions can be filled quickly. It will also seek to hire an executive search firm to assist with the nationwide search for a permanent City Manager.
