Historian Gretchen D. Crank Honored By Florissant

Mayor Thomas P. Schneider announced that the City of Florissant, along with Old Town Partners, will dedicated a plaque honoring the late Gretchen D. Crank. Her plaque will be the 30th one in Walk through History, which celebrates those who made a valuable contribution to the City of Florissant.

Gretchen’s devolved a passion for Florissant history, and she helped save the Myers House from demolition when Highway 170 was built. Gretchen, who later became President of Historic Florissant, Inc., also dedicated her time and energy to preserving the Gettemeier House.

Gretchen served on the Old Town Commission, Friends of Old St. Ferdinand, Florissant Landmark Commission, and St. Louis County Historic Building Commission. She wrote and published “Reflections of the Florissant Valley.”

Gretchen’s plaque dedication will be held on July 26th at 5:45 p.m. on rue St. Francois, before the Wednesday Night Out Family Fun & Movie Night. Following the dedication, Wednesday Nights Out starts at 6:00 p.m., and the movie, “Finding Dory,” starts at dusk.

Hosted by Old St. Ferdinand Shrine & Duchesne Knights of Columbus, the Wednesday Night Out is at 50 rue St. Francois. For parking, enter from Washington Street. Bring lawn chairs & blankets to enjoy the movie under the stars with family, friends, and neighbors.
