Prep Softball Begins Road to St. Joe, Next Week with District Tournaments

Beginning this year the Missouri State High School Activities Association Softball Championships will be held at Heritage Park Softball Complex, in St. Joseph, Mo.
St. Joseph will host the state softball championships this year and next then Springfield will host the state championships in 2010 and 2011. This years state softball championship semifinals and finals will be played Oct. 24-25.

The road to St. Joe begins Oct. 9-11 with district tournaments, although some may begin Oct. 8. Sectionals will be played Oct. 15 and the Quarterfinals will be played Oct. 18, with St. Louis teams likely to be played at Ballwin Athletic Association.
In Class Four Hazelwood Central will host District Seven with Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer and Riverview Gardens in the field and that winner will play Oct. 15 at C & H Park. Incarnate Word Academy will be in District Six at Parkway Central with that winner returning to Parkway Central Oct. 15.

In Class Three Lutheran North will host District Six with Trinity Catholic, Jennings, Central Visual and Performing Arts, Northwest Transportation and Law, Miller Career Academy and Vashon competing for a spot in the Oct 15 game at Koeneman Park in Jennings.

GIRLS TENNIS-The road to Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield, Mo., begins next week with District Tournaments, which must end by Oct. 11. The top four teams from each district play Oct. 13-15 in Regionals, with the top two teams possibly hosting, followed by Sectionals and Quarterfinals, sites to be announced, Oct. 17-18 and the state team tournament will be in Springfield, Oct. 23. The top two singles players and doubles teams in the district tournaments advance to the state tournament in Springfield, Oct. 24-25.

In Class Two Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Pattonville, Parkway North, Rtienour and Riverview Gardens will be in District Three at Parkway Central while Incarnate Word is in District Two at Rockwood-Lafayette. In Class One Lutheran North will be in District Three at Mary Institute-Country Day School.

GIRLS GOLF-Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, Incarnate Word and McCluer North will play in Class Two, District Two, Oct. 7 at Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Course. The District Champion will qualify their team for state, Oct. 20-21 at Silo Ridge & Country Club, Bolivar. Also the top 10 golfers not on the district champion will also go to Bolivar as individuals but not necessarily as a team.
