City Council Honors Rosemary Davison on Her 90th Birthday

BY CAROL ARNETT

The Florissant City Council honored longtime resident Rosemary Davison on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Davison has been active in historic preservation in the city for several years, and was formerly the city clerk.

Davison said she has been “truly blessed” in her life, with good parents, wonderful siblings, and a loving husband. She said in her genealogy studies, she spends a lot of time in cemeteries and enjoys the epithets on tombstones. She would be happy, she said, if hers said “She tried to make a difference.”

However, she added, she does not intend to need a tombstone anytime soon. She closed with one of her favorite quotes: “You’re never too old to set new goals; you’re never too old to dream new dreams.”

Two Public Hearings Held

The city council Monday night also held two public hearings at the council meeting Monday. The first was a request for a sign change for the Pizza Hut on Lindbergh Boulevard. The square footage of the sign will not change, but the sign will now say Pizza Hut/ Wing Street.

The second public hearing was to discuss a request by GMT Auto Sales, at the corner of Lindbergh and Charbonier, to add a 24 by 50 foot addition to the building on the site. It would hold a wash bay and a truck top installation bay.

Councilman Tim Lee said he had a problem with the dealership because they repeatedly violated the city’s sign ordinance with temporary “Sale” signs. He asked for assurance that they would not violate the ordinance again.
