Lowery Plans Walk of Honor Along rue St. Francois

BY CAROL ARNETT

Look out Joe Edwards, Florissant Mayor Robert Lowery has announced plans to develop a Walk of Honor for our city. The walk would be similar to the walk of fame in University City, with plaques placed in the sidewalk along St. Francois Street in Old Town, Lowery said.

Lowery has appointed Councilman Dan Sullivan to chair the committee that will oversee the walk. Sullivan’s ward includes Old Town. Also on the committee, Lowery announced, are Rosemary Davison, Grace Zykan, Gary Gaydos, Gary Meyer, Nathan Bennett, and Mark Goldstein.

Lowery said he would call for the committee to have its first meeting after the first of the year. He would like to see the first plaques “as soon as the weather breaks,” he said.

Lowery said he would like the walk to honor people from the arts, from the city’s history, and “anyone who has done something significant for the city.”
