Rams and Cardinals Going In Different Directions

There are not many things that I know for certain in this life except that I have to pay taxes and die some day, hopefully later rather than sooner.

But another thing I have learned for sure is that the Rams will consistently find a way to lose, whether it is a straight out loss or a case of bad luck. I hate to be this way about the team and franchise but the Rams are snake bitten by bad luck and bad talent at some positions.

I really thought that the team would have a decent year, but it has started off on the wrong foot. After a blowout loss to the Vikings, where the offense could get nothing going and eventually had to use their 3rd string quarterback, I don’t know where they can turn.

My opinion is that they need to get a big name quarterback in here right away. It needs to be someone with some name recognition, even if he is an older backup quarterback. Name recognition goes along way in this league. Even if it is just to get the fans back on board.

You can’t bring in some young guy hoping to develop him, the franchise does not have that kind of time in terms of support from the paying ticket holder.

Everyone that I have talked to has said the exact same thing. It is the same old Rams and that’s a line that needs to be stricken from the vocabulary if this team expects to be successful in the future. I hope the Rams can work it out.

Don’t blame the stadium issue or anything else. The product is on the field. All I can say, winning can brings many things. Look at the Mizzou Tigers also, they consistently find a way to motivate their players and win and they have turnover at extreme numbers every year. I know it is hard to compare the two but at the College level it might seem to be harder to motivate a team and players because they aren’t getting paid millions of dollars to play. Well at least at some programs they aren’t. That’s a story for a total other column.

September Means Cards Are Flying High

On the other hand, how about those Cardinals. Is this why people don’t care about the Rams? This franchise knows how to win. They find a way both with young talent and veterans. They have the recipe for success. That always seems to come to surface in September.

During the summer the team was all over the standings but now when it counts we are in first place during everybody’s favorite two months of baseball, September and October. Just think, not to jinx them but in about 45 days, we could be having another World Series in St. Louis This would all be in the midst of the St. Louis Blues kicking off their season. It is so hard to tell with the Blues because there is not a lot of information on the players coming to the team. In baseball and football, you can follow them in college and so but hockey is a bit different. All you can do is wait through the long regular season and hope for the best when it comes playoff time.
