BY RANDY GARDNER
Football time has come as the Rams are in their first week of camp in Mequon, Wisconsin, at Concordia University. Things did not start off well as one of our best, Stephen Jackson, is not in camp. This is a disgrace to hold out coming off a 3-13 year. Maybe if you’re 13-3, you deserve to may be holdout but let’s be real. Jackson hasn’t been in the league long enough to pull a stunt like this.
The big running back does have plenty of talent but let’s treat it with some class like Tory Holt did with his holdout.
In Tory’s situation, he at least came to camp and showed the players and ownership that he was committed to being there.
I like the stand of Rams management right now as they basically said; we will not negotiate until he is in camp. Probably by the time this column gets to print he will be in camp. The team is basically saying that we are drawing a line and you had better be on this side of it if you want to get paid. I hope they stick to their guns and this will create an aura for the rest of the franchise.
This is what we need with this Rams franchise right now. Some hard nose football with a group that won’t take any crap.
For the last year since the death of Georgia Fronteire, St. Louis fans have speculated whether siblings Lucia and Chip would sell the Rams or possibly move them. I think the coin falls both ways. If someone offers them a lot of money to walk away they might, but they seem like good honest people and will stick to their guns about keeping the team here like their mother requested before she passed away. Only time will tell though. Hopefully, a playoff season will keep things positive.

I hope you had a chance to get out and see Nascar at Gateway last week. It was a great race with high speeds and a few good crashes. I always talk about getting out and experiencing it in person and you will change.
I know it works because my producer, John Pagano who had never been a fan or Nascar is now a huge fan. To smell the gas and rubber is something like no other. I wouldn’t be surprised if John has put his wife’s car in the street and is building a Nascar in his garage.
It was cool to see all of the Wallace brothers in town including Kenny, Mike, and Rustys son Steven. I had a chance to get in the car and go for a spin with Steven for a few laps and John and Scott my cameramen got a chance to roll with Kenny Wallace.
It was like a holiday in July for me. It’s so cool to be around these guys, they are so different than other athletes as these are real down to earth guys— not one that feels that they are bigger than the sport itself.
