Trinity Soccer Starts 6-0

Trinity Catholic High School Girls Soccer team is off to a 6-0 start prior to an April 14 visit to O’Fallon Christian High School and an April 16 home game against Bishop DuBourg.
Prior to Easter Sunday Trinity has an April 17, 3:30 game at McCluer North and the day after Easter, April 21 the Titans have a 7 p.m. date against defending Class Two State Champion St. Dominic.
Trinity has defeated McCluer North, O’Fallon Christian and Bishop DuBourg earlier this season. The Titans also won over John F. Kennedy, Lutheran St. Charles County and Hazelwood Central.
Trinity opened the season March 26 with a 2-1 win at McCluer North with two second half goals after McCluer North led at halftime on a Danielle Applegate goal. Kassidy Louvall tied the game for the Titans then Morgan Clark, who assisted on Lovall’s goal, scored the game winner but could have scored more if it were not for McCluer North goalkeeper Sarah O’Connor who kept the Stars in the game with nine saves.
On March 31 Trinity won at home 4-1 over O’Fallon Christian as the Titians scored three times in the first half and led 3-0 at halftime. Louvall scored twice while Clark and Melanie Gubicya each scored once while Julia Gubicya and Kierstyn Weaver added two assists. The Titans out-shot the Eagles 17-9 but Eagle goalkeeper Zoe Wetzel made 13 saves.
April 1 was no April fool joke as Trinity visited Bishop DuBourg and the Titans won going away 6-1 over the Cavaliers. After clinging to a 2-1 halftime lead Trinity rolled away in the second half by scoring four goals as Clark and Louvall each scored twice in the game while Weaver and Erika Douglas each scored once. Once again the Titans peppered the opposition with shots, 17 against DuBourg but Cavalier goalkeeper Julia Reiter made 12 saves.
One week later the Titans played three games in three days and came away with three wins. On April 8 Trinity won at home over Kennedy, 2-1, with all of the goals coming in the first half. Julia Gubicya and Tessa Stoverink each scored a Trinity goal against Kennedy.
The next day, April 9, Trinity went to St. Peters and won and played on the newly installed artificial turf of Lutheran High-St. Charles County’s Cougar Stadium instead of in back of the school’s other field. The Titans came away with a 2-0 shutout. This time goalkeeping won it for the Titans as Jess Eaton stopped 11 Cougar shots. Clark scored a first-half goal while Kelsey Keppler scored in the second.
One day later, April 10, Trinity visited Hazelwood Central and played on the field adjacent to the Hazelwood School District Bus Garage and the Titans shut out the Hawks 4-0. Clark scored a first half goal then the Titans out-scored the Hawks 3-0 in the second half as Douglas scored twice and Keppler added another.
