Event sponsorships and individual tickets are now available for the 7th Annual Mayors’ Shamrock Ball. The ball will be held this year on Saturday, March 8 at the Garden Villas North, 4505 Parker Road from 6:30  to 11 p.m.  Proceeds generated from this premier green tie event of North County benefit Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop in Hazelwood.

Over the past six years, this fund-raiser has evolved into one of the biggest social events of the year.  The 2013 event had 77 sponsors and over 468 tickets were sold. The event raised approximately $35,000 for Valley Industries, an increase of nearly $8,000 from the 2012 ball’s total.

The event hosts are North County mayors Norman McCourt of Black Jack, James Knowles, III, of Ferguson, Tom Schneider of Florissant, and Matthew Robinson of Hazelwood. They traditionally wear black tuxedos with green ties, sashes and cummerbunds, and black top hats as they stand near the front entrance to greet every guest.

“We were thrilled about last year’s phenomenal turnout and the strong support we received from the North County community.  This event has turned into one of the biggest Irish celebrations in the region and it’s for a very worthy cause,” said retired Hazelwood Police Chief Carl Wolf, Shamrock Ball event chairman.

“We look forward to a bigger and better event this year with sponsorship and ticket sales as we support efforts to help those with developmental disabilities become productive members of society.”
