Hazelwood District Names Principals for West High, Jamestown Elementary

The HSD Board of Education recently approved recommendations for the hiring of principals at Hazelwood West High School and Jamestown Elementary School.

Joe Dobrinic, who has spent the past four years as the associate principal at Hazelwood West High School, has been promoted to principal at West High School. He will replace Ingrid Clark-Jackson, who has been named assistant superintendent for human resources.

Lisa Strauther has been hired to serve as the principal for Jamestown Elementary. For most of this school year, Strauther has served as the interim principal of Jana Elementary. She previously served as the assistant principal at Keeven Elementary School for five years. She will replace Dr. Ty McNichols, who has been named assistant superintendent for school accountability.

Dobrinic has more than 14 years of educational experience, all of it in the Hazelwood School District. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Kirby Middle School, now called Hazelwood East Middle. After five years, he became an assistant principal at Kirby Middle School before being named associate principal of West High School in 2004.

A graduate of the Hazelwood School District, Strauther has more than 13 years of educational experience. Prior to serving as assistant principal at Keeven, Strauther served as the assistant principal for three years at Townsend Elementary School. She also taught at Jury Elementary School and at an elementary school in the University City School District.

Dobrinic and Strauther will assume their new roles on July 1.
