SLABA Eagles Lead 18 & 15 Leagues

The St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association Eagles, who play their home games at the Hazelwood Sports Complex and Lutheran High School North, have two teams that are in first place late in June.

The Eagles 18 team, as of June 25, are 11-3 in SLABA 18, 19-8 overall. The Eagles 15 team, as of June 25, are 8-1 in SLABA 15, 16-9 overall.

The Eagles 18 team has scored at least 148 runs, a 5.7-run per game average, while allowing at least 81, a 3.1 per game average. The Eagles 15 team has scored at least 202 runs, averaging 7.5 per game while allowing at least 155, a 5.7 per game average. League losses for Eagles 18 include Tigers 17, Travelers 18 and Dirt Bags 18 while the only SLABA 15 loss prior to June 26 for Eagles 18 took place in late May against Capitals 15.

The other losses by Eagles 18 include Illinois American Legion teams, Highland (two times) and Alton, and two tournament games at O’Fallon Park (it is not clear if it is in Missouri or Illinois). In five tournaments played by the Eagles 15 the record is 8-10.

EAGLES 18 — Oday Alyatim is the leader at bat in averages as he is batting.470, has an on-base percentage of .506 and is slugging .892. Alyatim has at least 39 hits including 19 singles, nine doubles, seven triples, four home runs and driven in at least 36 runs while scoring at least 11.

Shane Hartwig, who is on base in half of his place appearances, at least 32 of 64, has scored 19 runs on 18 hits, 17 singles and a double, and has at least 11 runs batted in. Hartwig has been hit by pitch

Other offensive statistics include Steven Kinnison, who has at least 25 hits including 21 singles, four stolen bases and sacrificed three times; Jack Adler, with at least 23 hits, nine of them doubles and 14 runs batted in, Joe Shell, with 14 walks, and Jared Littlefield, with four stolen bases.

In pitching, prior to June 26 Hartwig is 4-1 in five starts with a 0.72 earned run average with 33 strikeouts, no walks and hit only one batter. Conner Buenger is 3-0 in four starts and three complete games with a 1.04 ERA and 31 strikeouts. Alex Grupas is 5-0 in six starts and three complete games with a 2.41 ERA and 31 strikeouts.

In fielding putouts, prior to June 26 Adler has 107 while Alyatim has 104 while in assists Shell has at least 29 and Hartwig has 23.

Scheduling information between June 26 and July 11 is unavailable and the Eagles 18 is scheduled to play Stars 17 July 12 at Principia High School.

EAGLES 15 — Prior to June 26 Matt Mellring is batting .439 and an on base percentage of .511 with at least 22 runs on 36 hits including 25 singles nine doubles and two home runs while driving in 29 runs. Neil Lee, who has scored at least 32 runs and has stolen 24 bases without being caught, is slugging .711 with 33 hits including 19 singles, six triples and three home runs while driving in at least 28 runs.

Adam Goss has scored 28 runs on 23 hits including 21 singles and walked 14 times. Jesse Repp has scored at least 26 runs while driving in 21 while receiving 14 walks and stolen 17 bases without being caught. Justin Porter has at least 16 walks and 11 stolen bases without being caught.

In pitching, prior to June 26, Repp is 4-0 with four compete games in five starts with a 2.33 ERA and at least 35 strikeouts. Mellring is 3-1 with 21 strikeouts. Conner Burnett, 4-3 in seven starts, has 33 strikeouts; Teddy McMillan has struck out 14 while Brandon Carter has struck out 12

In fielding, prior to June 26, Austin leads in put outs with at least125, Goss has 96 and Mellring has 62. In assists Repp has at least 46, Goss has 34, Burnett has 25 and Matt Ridings has 21.

Results from games scheduled for June 27, 29, and 30 were unavailable or the game(s) were rained out. After playing Stallions 15 Blue, July 3 at Founders Park, the Eagles 15 team plays the Stallions 15 Red July 9, 5:45 at St. Dominic High School (O’Fallon, Mo.), then host the Tigers 15 Red July 10, 5:45 at Hazelwood Sports Complex and plays Dirt Bags 15, July 12, 5:45 at Mehlville High School.
