Low Water in the Mississippi

Low water conditions along the Mississippi River, which has effected barge traffic on the country’s busiest waterway, are still quite evident. These photos were taken from the Chain of Rocks Bridge on Jan. 19. The top view looking north shows a long sand bar in the middle of the river. In bottom photo, looking south towards downtown, shows debris clogging the river channel.
