Local Restaurants are great for Valentine Dates

You Can Never Go Wrong Taking Your Sweetheart  To a Local Restaurant

                          by Nichole Butler

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. In no time at all, the person you love is expecting something romantic (and sorry guys, but this usually falls on you!) to sweep them off their feet.

Here’s the thing, though… what is romantic? It is defined as displaying or expressing love or strong affection. Nicely put, but seriously… what is that? The tricky thing about romance is that it is different for every person. Some like flowers. Some like chocolate. Some like jewelry or those over-sized stuffed animals that stock convenient store shelves this time of year.

Some just like it when your dirty clothes make it to the hamper and the dishwasher somehow “empties its self”. Unfortunately, you kind of have to know what your special someone prefers in that department.

However, there is one little (and by little, I mean HUGE) detail that should never be overlooked on Valentine’s Day.

Whether the two of you are meeting up on your lunch hour or going out fancy in the evening, a Valentine’s Day meal is almost always an absolute must item to check off on your celebration to-do list. Old Town Florissant and Ferguson are filled with fantastic restaurants to choose from.

Hendel’s Market Café, a Florissant favorite located on rue St. Denis across the street from Sacred Heart Church, was voted number 10 on Urbanspoon.com’s Top 20 Most Romantic Restaurants in St. Louis. Hendel’s is hosting its annual 5-course Valentine’s Day Dinner event this upcoming Feb. 13 and 14.

If you are wanting a more casual outing, or maybe you’d love to surprise your sweetheart with a night in but don’t have all that time to cook before they get home from work, grab something yummy and sweet from De.lish Cheesecake Bakery and Café. This is  Florissant’s newest arrival located on rue St. Catherine in the old train depot.

For those who have wished to visit a few of the popular restaurants in Ferguson but just haven’t made it down South Florissant Road quite yet, Valentine’s Day would prove to be an excellent opportunity to do so.

If your sweetheart is a wine lover, they would adore Cork Wine Bar (if they don’t already!). Not only do they have over 100 varieties of wine, but their menu items are delicious and made with locally grown ingredients!

Mosey on down the road a little and you’ll come to The Ferguson Brewing Company, a  fun environment perfect for a couple out looking for a bit of a good time.

The great thing about both the wine bar and the brewing company is that they’ll match perfectly with whatever style you’re going for this Valentine’s Day… casual and cute, or romantic and classy. They’re like a good pair of jeans; you can dress them up with a pair of pumps and a string of pearls, or dress them down with cute flats and a ruffled cardigan.

Whichever way one decides to celebrate, local residents can be assured that the several restaurants residing in Florissant and Ferguson provide an atmosphere for love that can satisfy everyone from the young to the young at heart.

The bottom line is, whether you do chocolates or gifts or a dinner out, showing excitement over the mushy-gushy lovey-dovey holiday will sweep your sweetheart right off their feet every time. So, do a little research, make a reservation, and show that special someone exactly why they put a smile on your face… then, order dessert!
