Ashley Furniture to Open Florissant Store on Nov. 5; Ultra and Five Below Later this Month
The Ashley Furniture HomeStore at the old Value City site on Lindbergh Blvd. will open Monday, Nov. 5. This will begin a string of openings at the redevelopment. PetCo is already open, Ulta and Five Below are aiming for late November openings, and the restaurants at the site, Panda Express and Chipotle Grill, along with Michaels, are tentatively slated for January 2013 openings
The plaza’s redevelopment cost $10 million, and generated 100 construction jobs, Florissant city officials said. The new retail stores, collectively, will result in 150 full and part-time jobs, including the 40 new positions at Ashley Furniture HomeStore.
The 38,000 square foot Ashley store is the first new furniture store in Florissant in over 12 years. It will be the sixth Ashley store in the St. Louis area.
Ashley has announced that Colleen Sheahan, a Hazelwood native and long-time Ferguson resident, has been appointed manager of the new Ashley Furniture HomeStore. Sheahan, has been with the company for more than 10 years and previously managed the Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Edwardsville.
Sheahan is a 1999 graduate of Incarnate Word Academy, and a student at Webster University, where she plans to graduate with a Bachelor degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications.
“We’re excited to open our Ashley Furniture HomeStore for our Florissant Valley and North County area customers,” said Steve Phillips, president and CEO of Phillips Furniture, which owns Ashley Furniture HomeStore/St. Louis. “This store, like all of our stores, will operate under our core values of Integrity Above All Else, Honesty in All We Do, and Service to Others First.”
Phillips Furniture, a locally owned, family-owned business, operates Phillips Furniture in Kirkwood, and Ashley Furniture HomeStores in West St. Louis County, O’Fallon (Mo.), South St. Louis County, Shiloh, Edwardsville, and next month, Florissant.
Phillips said his company is committed to being a good neighbor in the communities it serves, and pointed out, for example, that it has donated more than $60,000 to Nurses for Newborns in the St. Louis area. It has also provided countless diapers and formula, and 15 cribs, mattresses and play pens to help the organization accomplish its mission. It also has donated nearly $40,000 to the Susan G Komen St. Louis & Mid Missouri Affiliates for breast cancer research.
“But, we’re especially proud of our own program, ‘A Hope to Dream,’ in which Ashley Furniture HomeStore/St. Louis will donate 52 new memory-foam mattresses, new beds and bedding to needy children throughout the area in November and December,” Phillips said. The new Florissant Ashley Furniture HomeStore’s hours will be 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday, and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday
