Hazelwood West, Trinity, Chaminade Top Boys District Soccer Seeds

Hazelwood West, Trinity Catholic and Chaminade College Prep are among the top seeded Boys Soccer teams competing in district tournaments with high schools in or near the Florissant Valley area.

Hazelwood West, prior to Oct. 22, is 16-4-2, Suburban North Conference champions at 6-0 and was 2-0-1 at the Parkway Tournament and 2-0-1 at the Lafayette Tournament as the Wildcats only ties were against Lafayette, both 2-2. Trinity Catholic, prior to Oct. 22, is 10-9 overall, 5-0 in the Archdiocesan Athletic Association Small School Division with a postponed game Oct. 17 against O’Fallon Christian, 0-3 in the CYC Tournament and 3-0 in winning the Trinity Round-Robin Tournament. Chaminade has a week off after going through a 20-2-2 season, 4-0 in winning the Metro Catholic Conference title, 3-0 in winning the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., 3-1 in the CYC Bob Guelker Tournament and 2-0 in the St. Louis Classic.

District Tournament play begins Oct. 27 with the four versus five seed games in Class Three, District Five and Class Three, District Two. In Class Three, District Two fourth-seeded McCluer North hosts fifth-seeded Hazelwood Central in a 1 p.m. game while the rest of the tournament will be played at the newly remodeled Pattonville Stadium. Chaminade hosts Class Three; District Two beginning with a 2 p.m. game between fourth-seeded McCluer takes on fifth-seeded Hazelwood East.

Hazelwood West continues Class Three, District Five on Pattonville, artificial surface Oct. 30 at 4:30 against the winner of the McCluer North-Hazelwood Central game followed at 6 p.m. with third-seed Pattonville hosting second-seeded Francis Howell North. The Oct. 30 winners play Nov. 1 in a 6 p.m. championship game and that winner will play at the winner of District Six in the Nov. 6 Sectional.

Chaminade, whose home field does not have lights, will continue Class Three, District Two with a 3:45 game Oct. 29 against the McCluer-Hazelwood East winner followed the next day, Oct. 30, with a 3:45 game between second-seeded St. Louis University High and third-seeded Ritenour. That district closes Nov. 3 with a 12 noon championship game and the winner hosts the District One winner in a Nov. 6 sectional.

Trinity Catholic hosts Class One, District Four, a two-day tournament and opens Oct. 29 at 4:30 against fourth-seeded North Tech followed at 6:30 when second-seeded Whitfield plays third-seeded Lutheran North. The two winners return Oct. 30 for a 6 p.m. game and the winner hosts the District Three winner in a Nov. 6 sectional.

State Quarterfinal games are Nov. 10, times and sites to be determined after Nov. 6 sectionals and the MSHSAA State Championships are Nov. 16-17 in Blue Springs.
