Hispanic Festival, Inc. will be turning up the heat for the Greater St. Louis Hispanic Festival at Kiener Plaza (Market and 7th Street) this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – Sept. 7, 8, 9,. This is a new location for the festival. Whgich has no admission fee.
The colorful and festive Welcoming Ceremony will be on Saturday – Sept. 8 at 4 pm with St. Louis City Mayor Francis Slay, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley and other local dignitaries followed by a Parade of Hispanic Nations. This is the largest Hispanic celebration in the St. Louis area.
The annual event will feature Hispanic Folkloric dancers, over 75 booths and the Los Ninos Kids Corner with Dora the Explorer & Diego. Take in the sizzling sounds of Hispanic music with 7 live Latino bands playing a variety of music on the premier concert stage including salsa, merengue, rock, percussion, cumbia and bachata.
Traditional folkloric dancers from Mexico, Peru and Colombia will be performing as well as offering dances lessons in salsa and bachata. Our Cultural Village will be host to a wide variety of foods and beverages from Latin & South America including Mexico, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Belize, and more. Other attractions include folk arts & crafts and information booths from several cultural organizations and government agencies as well as recruitment booths.
One of the Fair’s purposes is to celebrate the common heritage of Hispanic nations. The funds raised are used to fund scholarships distributed to college-bound students as well as under-privileged children and their families.
